新型コロナ収束の兆しに安堵したのも束の間、2月1日にミャンマーでクーデターが起きたというニュースが飛び込んできました。不測の事態から三週間、現地の状況を注意深く見守っているところですが、多方面から心配の声をいただいていますので、現況について報告します。 現在、JIPの日本人スタッフは全員日本にいます。ミャンマー人スタッフはヤンゴンにいますが、常にメール等で連絡が取れる状況にあり、元気にしています。建設地はヤンゴンや首都ネピドーのある中央部より遠く離れた南部のカイン州と北部のサガイン地域の２か所にあり、地元関係者やDRRD（ミャンマー建設省地方道路開発局）の支援のもと、信頼できる現地の建設会社の指揮により、順調に進んでいます。 カイン州のサイトでは現場打ち杭の施工機械を２セット投入しています。乾期でも浅いながら水面が広がっているので桟橋をもうけて工事していましたが、橋台・橋脚も順次立ち上がってきました。 サガイン地域のサイトもほぼ同じペースで進んでいます。２０１６年頃にはロンジー姿の作業員もいましたが、今年は全員ズボン着用、標識のベストも多数が着用しています。 先行きが不安な状況の中、地元の人々は橋の完成を心待ちにしています。安全第一を念頭に、工事を継続していきたいと思います。
