Mr Nakao, Chairman of JIP, and two others attended the 26th Japan Water Grand Prize (organised by the Japan Water Grand Prize Committee and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) award ceremony and presentation of award-winning activities at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) on 18 June. In the presence of His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino, Honorary President of the Japan Water Grand Prize Committee, JIP received a certificate of commendation for the 26th Japan Water Grand Prize International Contribution Award from Mr Mamoru Mohri, Chairman of the Japan Water Grand Prize Committee,.
The Japan Water Grand Prize has several categories, and JIP was awarded the International Contribution Award. Our approach to building small bridges in rural areas in Asia that meet the needs of the local residents, with the aim of technology transfer, was highly commended. The Tamagawa Gakuen High School Coral Club won the Grand Prize, and students from Aomori Prefectural Nakui Agricultural High School were selected to represent Japan in the Stockholm Youth Water Awards. We were impressed by the young generation’s awareness of water issues and their presentation skills.
